Enhanced matte paper or E-matte is a high quality photo paper with a flat non-glossy finish. The finish allows a photo to be displayed with a minimum amount of glare from lighting.
Glossy photo paper has a shiny finish that will reflect a great deal of light and sometimes result in a glare if lighting conditions are not optimal. However it produces bright shiny colors and is very pleasing to the eye.
The metallic paper is a photo paper that has a metallic looking finish and high gloss. It accents the depth and colors of an image.
Luster paper is a photo paper that is about half as shiny as glossy photo paper. It typically produces more dramatic color than matte paper. This is the happy medium between Glossy and Matte papers.
Canvas is a high quality material that photos can be printed on then stretched around a frame as a Gallery Wrap. These prints come ready to hang on a wall when purchased.
Smooth Vinyl is a material that like a canvas can be stretched over bars to make a Gallery Wrap. It has a unique smooth texture and a finish very similar to a matte photo paper that minimizes glare from lighting. Smooth Vinyl is a less expensive alternative to Canvas that maintains a high level of quality. Vinyl is also weather resistant and is the best option for photos you wish to display outdoors when combined with a weatherproof frame.
A Gallery Wrap is a method of displaying a photo where it is printed on a material that is stretched over a frame of a desired size and depth. Example1 Example2 Example3 Contact me to order one!
What options for size and depth are there for Gallery Wraps?
A Gallery Wrap can be ordered in almost any size or depth you wish! I recommend ½ inch bars for smaller photos and 1 ½ inch bars for larger photos.
If I get a Gallery Wrap for outdoor display where should I put it?
You should never mount a Gallery Wrap or any photo where it will be exposed to direct sunlight. While the materials can handle rain and wind, sun light will fade the photo over time. The Smooth Vinyl used for these Wraps is very strong and over time the ink will actually harden and increasing its resistance to scratching. You should still be very careful when mounting these works as they can still be scratched or damaged. A Gallery Wrap for outdoor display in direct sunlight will begin to fade in as little as 1 year! Do not mount them in the sun!
How long will my prints/Gallery Wraps last?
All prints and canvas Gallery Wraps are made with archival inks and materials. They should last 100+ years when properly displayed. (not in direct sunlight) The Smooth Vinyl Gallery Wraps are also made with high quality inks and materials, but when ordered for outdoor display should last between 2 and 5 years with no visible fading.
What do you mean by limited prints?
All photos, no matter what variation in size and material, or whether made as prints or Gallery Wraps, will never be produced beyond 100 copies. Even if a photo is damaged or destroyed it can not be replaced once the total of 100 has been reached. Each photo will be numbered and signed.
Are these Giclee Fine Art prints?
All the prints are made with the Giclee process. All the prints are printed on Fine Art printers except for Smooth Vinyl Gallery Wraps. These prints are Giclee, but are produced on a six color printer as opposed to the ten colors used for all other materials.
Can I get my print on another material?
YES! I can print on canvas and coat it in resin, watercolor paper, metal, back lit media and many other materials. If you have a certain material in mind or specific use I can find a material to match your needs. Just give me a call!
Where can I get a good picture frame in town?
I recommend Townhouse Art and supply in Wilmington for custom framing. Michaels also has a frame shop and a large selection of frames. Either will cut a custom piece of matte paper to fit your photo and frame choices.
I saw another photo on your website that I liked. Can I get a print of that?
Yes! Just let me know and I’ll make it happen.
I didn’t find what I wanted or it was sold out. Do you have more photos for sale?
All photos are limited to 100 prints and once that number is reached no more will be made. If you have an idea for a photo that you are looking for let me know. I may already have something like it. I’m certainly willing to try and create images that will meet any client’s specific needs.
If you live in Wilmington or nearby your order will be delivered by hand. All other orders will be shipped in a tube unless you order a Gallery Wrap. Gallery Wraps will be shipped in a custom box. All will be shipped via USPS and you will be provided a tracking number.
Yes! There are some limitations but If you want a specific photo at a specific size I can help you to find a size that works.
How long until I get my order?
Orders for prints and Gallery Wraps are placed as soon as I receive payment. Prints may take up to two weeks and then they will be shipped or delivered. Shipping time will vary depending on your distance from Wilmington, NC. You will be provided a tracking number via email or notified by phone to set up a delivery time.
